On November 19th, the 6th International Forum of the International Conference on Foreigner¡¯s Welfare (ICFW) took place in the Coral Room of the Seoul Hilton Hotel; the event featured discussions about multicultural issues.
More than twenty ambassadors from various countries, including Bangladesh, attended the forum to introduce themselves and offer opinions on the welfare of foreigners living in Korea. Three ¡®Miss Multiculturisms¡¯ also attended this forum.
In the keynote address, Chairman Shin Kwang-yul commented, ¡°I hope we can have heart-to-heart discussions and share opinions on a number of issues such as immigrant labor. I also hope that foreigners living in Korea can receive full protection and support.¡± Also, the ambassador H.E. TRAN Trong Toan of the Vietnam (representative ambassador of 40 countries in Asia area) asked, ¡°I hope you will have more interests about multicultural families and immigrant women.¡± Ambassador Luis Cruz of the Philippines commented, ¡°Currently, there are about 50 thousand Filipinos living in Korea, and more and more Filipinos are marrying Koreans. Multicultural development can be realized through interactive exchange. Although we may look different, we can blend such differences together and move forward. Let¡¯s create a wise and beautiful society.¡±
