Mr. Raja Ram Bartaula, Charge d¡¯ Affaries of Nepal was interviewed President Shin, of ICFW. On 24th of February ¡®2011 at the Embassy of Nepal, Seoul. He had worked as a diplomat for long term at Qatar, China and Bangladesh. He is been living in Korea for 7 months.
The total population of Nepal is 3 million. Around 300 Korean people living in Nepal. Most of them are working at Korean companies. Also, there ¡®s few foreign students living in Nepal.
On the other hand, there are 12,500 Nepalese living in Korea however we forecast that the number of Nepalese people will be increased including the workers who are going to work in May 2012. Besides, there are 821 Nepalese women married to Koreans.
Mr. Bartaula strongly said, there are no legal advices or solutions for Nepalese women's if they are having a family issues, such as divorce etc.. Because of this, there are many inquiry calls to the Embassy of Nepal asking for help. Although it affects the busy work the embassy still answering each call so that at least a little help were given.
Recently Korea has put the normal procedures of International Marriage Immigration Law into practice, but before then Nepalese women had to pay an outrageous fee of 1,000 dollars (about one million won) just to enter Korea for Marriage. Even women only earn 300~500 dollars per month (300 thousand won~500 thousand won) at work after Graduating University in Nepal.
They had to pay an extravagant fee to get married in Korea.
Considering his long years of being a diplomat. In his thought, the most important improvement for Korea's Multicultural Society.
(with a deep thinking) "That is freedom. But there must be a great responsibility involved in freedom." he said.
